Netzwerk “Moderne am Main” Year:
2019
Year:
2019
Nadine Auth's diploma thesis Netzwerk "Moderne am Main" deals with the interface between analogue and digital worlds of experience in exhibition design. In cooperation with the Museum Angewandte Kunst in Frankfurt am Main, a VR concept was developed to present the personal and professional relationships of the protagonists of the "Moderne am Main" design movement. I was involved as a game designer and developer to evaluate the interaction principles and to realise the concept as a fully realised VR application.
My Role:
I worked closely with Nadine to find a way to visualise and parametrically experience the complexity of the network, which had previously only been shown as a static animation. This involved adapting the concept and ultimately programming, visualising, animating and on-site installing the application in the exhibition of the Museum Angewandte Kunst Frankfurt am Main.

Result:
The Netzwerk Moderne am Main gives players the opportunity to immerse themselves in the design network of 1919-1933 and explore the relationships between the people involved. There are key objects that can be activated by touching them with the controller. All the protagonists connected to this object then emerge from the background and can be selected by the visitor, providing audio-visual information on the historical background, architecture, design and private relationships. The connections between the players are colour-coded. The player can now work their way from connection to connection, but always has the chance to return to the beginning of the experience via the key objects.
