Harmony Hub was created as a submission to the Eat (the) Rich! game jam hosted by A MAZE 2024. The jam ran from March 20, 2024, to April 22, 2024. Our team spent 9 days to develop the game during this time. We aimed to use the jam as an opportunity to explore and test our own ideas regarding narrative and combinatorial game mechanics. Thematically, we delved into the toxic aspects of startup culture in Berlin.
My Role:
Aside from ideation and streamlining the game mechanics, I assumed full responsibility for programming and in engine tasks for this project. In accordance with the team, I made crucial decisions regarding mechanics and their implementation. I also served as the point of contact between art and narrative, as I was the one who was responsible for bringing everything together.

Result:
During the short development time, uncertainties repeatedly arose about the linearity and possibilities of the combination mechanic. Pragmatic solutions had to be found quickly during the jam. I was able to make these decisions in coordination with the team and thus also expand and flesh out the backlog for further narrative mechanics. This backlog will definitely be used for adaptations and follow-up projects.

Harmony Hub for me represents a successful first prototype that tests a very specific mechanic in its simplest form for its narrative usability. The mechanic still has a few UX and feedback issues that need to be ironed out, but basically the explorative contextualization  part of it works quite well.
